Evacuation Chair Training for Schools & Colleges
Schools, colleges, universities, and nurseries present some of the most complex evacuation challenges of any sector. You’re responsible for children and young people, students with a wide range of physical and learning needs, and large numbers of people moving through multi-storey buildings every day.
EverSafe works with educational settings of all sizes — from single-room nurseries to sprawling university campuses — to make sure every member of staff knows exactly what to do when it matters most.

Why Educational Settings Need Specialist Training
Specialised evacuation skills
- Schools and universities have a legal duty of care for students, including those with disabilities or special educational needs
- SEN facilities, specialist schools, and nurseries may have students who require physical assistance to evacuate
- Large, multi-storey buildings with high footfall require carefully planned evacuation routes and warden systems
- Staff turnover in education is high — regular, accessible training is essential to keep the whole team prepared
- Ofsted and other regulators expect robust, documented emergency procedures

Example
Yorkshire Secondary School
A large secondary school in Yorkshire contacted EverSafe following the enrolment of several students with significant mobility needs. We assessed the school’s existing evacuation procedures, identified gaps in their PEEP documentation, and delivered Evacuation Chair training to all site and pastoral staff. We also ran a full evacuation exercise to test the new procedures. Staff and governors reported a marked improvement in confidence, and the school’s emergency plan was fully updated to reflect each student’s individual needs.
