Evacuation Chair Training for Healthcare & Residential Care
Evacuation in healthcare and residential care settings is unlike any other environment. You’re responsible for patients, residents, and service users who may be bed-bound, have limited mobility, experience cognitive difficulties, or rely on complex medical equipment. When an emergency happens, there’s no time to improvise — your team needs to be trained, confident, and ready.
At EverSafe, we understand the unique pressures that healthcare and care home staff face. Our training is practical, compassionate, and built around the real-world challenges of your setting.

Why Healthcare Settings Need Specialist Training
Specialised evacuation skills
Many patients and residents cannot self-evacuate and require hands-on assistance
- Staff must balance speed with dignity, particularly for end-of-life and dementia care residents
- Medical equipment such as drips, ventilators, and hoists must be managed during evacuation
- Multi-storey hospitals and care homes present complex staircase and refuge area challenges
- Legal compliance under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires documented PEEPs for all non-ambulant individuals
Equipment We Supply
Alongside training, EverSAFE supplies the evacuation equipment your setting needs. We’ll assess your building and recommend the right devices for your specific layout, resident profile, and staffing levels.

Example
Residential Care Home
A residential care home in the East Midlands approached EverSafe after a CQC inspection flagged gaps in their evacuation planning for non-ambulant residents. We delivered a full programme of Evacuation Chair operator training and Evacuation Sheet training for all care staff, created individual PEEPs for every resident with mobility needs, and carried out an evacuation route assessment of all three floors. The home was re-inspected six months later and received a ‘Good’ rating for safety. Staff reported feeling significantly more confident in their ability to respond to an emergency.
